Giulia by Lang
What a stunning year-round yarn! This rayon yarn is a knitted construction, with just enough nylon in it for some visual texture. Not too hot-- rayon yarn is great for warmer climates or all year round in the office. Easy to knit, it won't hang up on itself or your needles. Great for crochet too. 50 gram balls contain about 82 yards each, and the gauge is 4 stitches per inch on #9 needles, making this an Aran weight rayon yarn. Very classy, it's not too drapey so it's good for stitch patterning, and there are several colors that are suitable for men. A long sleeved women's sweater with 40" bust will take about 14-15 balls.
Merino 400 Lace by Lang
A favorite from Lang, a beautifully spun 2-ply lace weight super fine merino. This yarn is 100% wool, no synthetic binder necessary. It has more elasticity than the wool/silk blends, so it's easy to knit. So soft, and blocks out beautifully. Great for lace projects of every level of difficulty, and anywhere a fine yarn is needed. Easily knits double or triple stranded (try mixing colors!).

  • 100% Super Fine Merino Wool
  • 32 stitches & 42 rows over 4" for a solid fabric
  • Needle size is variable depending on pattern
  • 25 gram ball is about 220 yards (199m)
  • Hand wash, dry flat, do not use fabric softener
  • Woman's plain medium (36") long sleeved pullover takes approximately 300 g (12 balls)
  • For machine knitting: Equivalent to 2/16 or 3/24 wool; about 4000 yards per pound, suitable for DB standard or Passap

What a wonderful yarn, just perfect for summer and year round wear!  Casino is a cotton/synthetic blend, embellished with the tiniest metallic thread that gives a subtle shimmer to the yarn.  It has lots of body too, great for openwork, with cotton softness.

There are beautiful patterns for Casino in the new Fatto a Mano 197 and 198: everything from lacy pullovers to cardigans and tops. Knit a simple top to wear on its own all summer, then under a jacket for work the rest of the year!

50g is about 180 yards (165m).   25 st & 32 rows = 4" on US 5-6 (3.5-4 mm) needles

Machine wash warm, dry flat.

Ultra Fringe!!! What else can you say, really?? This is a super quick novelty project yarn. Bi-colored-- take your pick from either the subtle neutral mixed colors, or the bold and bright primary plus black attention-getting colors. Either way, this is FUN!? Just knit or crochet between the fringe. The cute vest pictured above is in the Fatto a Mano 192 Urban pattern book. For scarves, cast on 8 stitches and go-- one skein for a neck warmer, 2 skeins for fashion length, and 3 for the "ultra ultra" look shown above.

  • 46% New Wool, 51% Acrylic, 3% Nylon
  • 1 stitch to the inch on US 17 needles (12 mm)
  • 100 gram ball is about 36 yards (32m)
  • Hand wash, dry flat, do not use fabric softener
For a great scarf, just cast on a few stitches and knit every row -- what could be easier?
Denim Cotton Recycled by Lang
"Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" is now embodied in a wonderful worsted yarn with Lang quality that you can rely on! This yarn is made from used jeans, first cut into strips, frayed into fibers, cleaned and re-spun into a soft 100% cotton yarn. No new fibers are used for this yarn, the jeans have a second life, and a new product is produced! Knitted into unique and creative garments, it's full of pleasure and fun. This yarn has great stitch definition and is very well suited to both textural stitches and open work.
  • 100% Recyled Cotton
  • 20 stitches & 28 rows = 4 inches
  • US 7-8 needles (4.5-5 mm)
  • 50 gram ball is about 115 yards (105m)
  • Machine wash warm, gentle cycle, dry flat
  • Woman's medium (36") long sleeved pullover takes approximately 500 g (10 balls)
    Greina by Lang

Here's another great three-season yarn from Lang. Introduced in the spring, Greina is a marvelous mix of fibers: wool, viscose, linen and acrylic. It's an evenly spun worsted weight, but the linen gives it a slightly slubby look, and the viscose (rayon) a little shine. This makes it very attractive for men's garments, because it has that slightly uneven, rugged look that men like. It's easy to knit and soft to the touch, but has more body than the standard superwash merino. That means it takes well to stitch patterning and cables, as it holds its shape well. There are patterns for Greina in the more recent Fatto a Mano books (2012-2013) but you can use it for any pattern calling for 5 st to the inch.

    • 40% acrylic, 30% Merino wool, 18% Viscose, 12% Linen
    • 20 stitches & 28 rows = 4 inches on US 7 needles (4.5 mm)
    • 50 gram ball is about 162 yards (105m)
    • Machine wash warm, gentle, use detergent for fine wash, dry flat

    Classico by Lang

A beautiful three-season yarn from Lang. Wool, nylon and pima cotton are combined into a classic spin for beautiful garments you'll want to wear all year around. Great for both men and women, Classico takes well to stitch patterning and cables, as it holds its shape well. Easy to knit and very soft.

There are patterns for Classico in the Fatto a Mano books 200, 211, and 214 (available at Handknitting.com) but you can use it for any DK pattern calling for 5.5
    st to the inch.

    • 35% Merino wool, 35% Nylon, 30% Pima Cotton
    • 22 stitches & 32 rows = 4 inches on US 4-7 needles (3.5-4.5 mm)
    • 50 gram ball is about 120 yards (110m)
    • Machine wash warm, gentle, use detergent for fine wash, dry flat
Linda is a winner for year round wear! This medium gauge yarn is a chained construction for lots of volume with minimal weight. It has a subtle sheen, and comes in beautifully intriguing but neutral shades that reflect light. Exceptionally soft and very fashionable!

Linda is a marvelous blend of linen, rayon, and acrylic, and wonderful for crochet too! Knit a simple top to wear on its own all summer, then under a jacket for work the rest of the year!

    • 46% acrylic, 43% Viscose, 11% Linen
    • 20 stitches & 28 rows = 4 inches on US 8 needles (5 mm)
    • The 50 gram ball is about 115 yards (105m)
    • Machine wash warm, gentle, use detergent for fine wash, dry flat.
    • Woman's medium (36") long sleeved pullover takes approximately 550 g (11 balls)
    Gamma by Lang

Gamma is a classic cotton yarn very familiar to fans of Lang yarns. Gamma is a thin knitted tube of very, very fine cotton threads, so it's not as heavy per yard as a solid cotton. It has a clean crisp look that is excellent for fancy stitch work, cables, and open lacy patterns. 100% Cotton. A 50 gram ball contains about 180 yards, which is a marvelous light weight cotton suitable for medium sized needles. This cotton yarn is great for year round wear. The beautiful clear colors that Lang is known for are especially lovely in Gamma.

    Gauge: 23 st & 33 rows = 4" on US 7-8 needles (4.5-5mm)

    Alpaca SuperLight Lamé
    by Lang

What a great addition to Alpaca SuperLight--an ultra thin polyester metallic thread paired with the super-soft, super-fine, super-luxurious, super-light alpaca yarn from Lang. This yarn has a light halo, yet is less transparent than most brushed yarns. No tickle or scratch like mohair, none of the itchiness you might expect with a feathery yarn.

Perfect for lace scarves, shawls and stoles, but great for lighter-than-air sweaters too. Anywhere you want a little bit of glitz.

    Sansibar, by Lang

What a gorgeous yarn, and so disappointing that it is now discontinued but of course that means a great bargain for you! Once again the masters at Lang have proven they are the best when it comes to blending fibers: Sansibar is a single ply wool blend, with an engaging shine from the viscose, and strength from the nylon. As usual, the Lang colors are striking and yet balanced, and so appealing. This yarn is well suited to using by itself, or combined with another yarn. Use it for any pattern asking for a sport weight wool.

    • 50g skein is about 40m (44 yds)

    Alpaca Degrade
    by Lang

A light to wear, colorful yarn with an exceptionally long color repeat. Brushed Alpaca is a soft alternative to mohair, and there is just enough wool and nylon to minimize shedding. This is a fabulous opportunity to let the yarn do all the work: stitch patterning is not appropriate for this multi-color, fuzzy yarn. Unusual directional knitting such as entrelac, though, could be extremely effective. The beautiful Lang colors are so appealing, and will create a garment or afghan that will be a favorite.

    • 70% Alpaca, 15% New Wool, 15% Nylon
    • 25g is about 147 yards
    • Recommended needle size is US 6-8 (4-5 mm)
    • Gauge is about 18 stitches and 27 rows in 4" (10 cm)
    • Hand wash, lay flat to dry, or dry clean.

    Estrella by Lang

Sometimes you just want a bulky cotton yarn, but they can be so heavy. The solution? Estrella. Estrella is a knitted tube of very, very fine cotton threads, so it's not as heavy per yard as a solid cotton. You can get that bulky look without all the weight on your shoulders! 100% Cotton. A 50 gram ball contains about 65 yards, which knits up super-quick at 3 stitches to the inch using a #15 (10mm) needles. This cotton yarn is great for year round wear, even beach wear in warm climates! The beautiful clear colors that Lang is known for are especially lovely in Estrella.

Another innovation by Lang. A slightly variegated, premium hand knitting yarn, especially designed for felting. The nylon helps to stabilize the felted fiber, and the spandex adds just enough stretch to help with wet shaping. Don't felt? Not to worry: this yarn has a gorgeous boucle construction that's very pretty when knitted--just choose a smaller needle and check your gauge.
    • 87% Extra Fine Merino, 12% Nylon, 1% Spandex.
    • 50g ball is about 200m (219 yds).

    Amalfi
    by Lang

What a great look and feel in yarn introduced by Lang. It is honestly "something completely different!" This yarn is a solid cotton core, wrapped with shiny nylon, giving both comfort in warm weather plus just a hint of glitz.

It has a lot of body to it, so it looks like shiny silk without all the drapey, saggy-ness of silk. I have swatched it myself, and washed it, and it gets a bit softer, but is still firm enough to hold the design features of more structured patterns. At the same time it will produce a great lacy fabric!
    • 70% combed Cotton, 30% Nylon
    • 18 stitches & 25 rows = 4 inches
    • US 7-8 needles (4.5-5 mm)
    • 50 gram ball is about 99 yards (90m)
    • Hand wash, dry flat, do not use fabric softener
    • Woman's medium (36") long sleeved pullover takes approximately 400 g (8 balls)

    Merino 130 Compact
A very, very different merino yarn! This is super-fine merino spun in an extra tight twist, with an anti-felting finish, and dyed in all those beautiful Lang colors. This is a sport weight yarn that displays unsurpassed stitch definition. And so soft next to the skin. Merino 130 Compact originally sold for $14.00 per ball.

We suspect that this yarn did not sell well in the US because of the smaller needle size required. But if you want an heirloom project, this yarn is perfect. We have limited quantities of certain colors, so order soon.

    • 100% merino wool
    • 50g ball = about 142 yd (130 m)
    • 23 st to 4" on US 4-5 needles
    • Machine or hand wash warm, lay flat to dry, or dry clean (although personally I would hand wash). Do not use fabric softener.
