Greina by Lang

Here's another great three-season yarn from Lang. Introduced in the spring, Greina is a marvelous mix of fibers: wool, viscose, linen and acrylic. It's an evenly spun worsted weight, but the linen gives it a slightly slubby look, and the viscose (rayon) a little shine. This makes it very attractive for men's garments, because it has that slightly uneven, rugged look that men like. It's easy to knit and soft to the touch, but has more body than the standard superwash merino. That means it takes well to stitch patterning and cables, as it holds its shape well. There are patterns for Greina in the more recent Fatto a Mano books (2012-2013) but you can use it for any pattern calling for 5 st to the inch.

  • 40% acrylic, 30% Merino wool, 18% Viscose, 12% Linen
  • 20 stitches & 28 rows = 4 inches on US 7 needles (4.5 mm)
  • 50 gram ball is about 162 yards (105m)
  • Machine wash warm, gentle, use detergent for fine wash, dry flat
Classico by Lang

A beautiful three-season yarn from Lang. Wool, nylon and pima cotton are combined into a classic spin for beautiful garments you'll want to wear all year around. Great for both men and women, Classico takes well to stitch patterning and cables, as it holds its shape well. Easy to knit and very soft.

There are patterns for Classico in the Fatto a Mano books 200, 211, and 214 (available at Handknitting.com) but you can use it for any DK pattern calling for 5.5
st to the inch.

  • 35% Merino wool, 35% Nylon, 30% Pima Cotton
  • 22 stitches & 32 rows = 4 inches on US 4-7 needles (3.5-4.5 mm)
  • 50 gram ball is about 120 yards (110m)
  • Machine wash warm, gentle, use detergent for fine wash, dry flat

Frontier
Designer yarn by Trendsetter

Explore a new frontier in your knitting and crochet with this multi-colored, multi-textured yarn that has no discernible repeat. Uneven striping results from plain knitting, but this yarn really shines when used in multi-directional knitting, including mitered squares, entrelac, and diagonal pieces. Some elongated or drop stitch patterns, and some brioche stitches would also show a different look for your knitting. Use Frontier alone, or mix with Merino 8 for so many combinations. Your imagination is the only limit!

Frontier is a soft and snuggly wool blend of 52% wool and 49% acrylic, and every ball contains portions that are solids, marls, thin and thick. Knits up quickly to an Aran gauge of 4 st to the inch on US 10 needles. Hand wash cold, dry cleaning is recommended. A 50 gram ball is about 115 yards.
  • 52% Wool, 48% Acrylic
  • Use size 10 needle, 6 mm
  • 50 g skeins
  • About 115 yards per skein
  • 4 stitches = 1"
  • Dry Clean or hand wash cold.

Tonalita
Designer yarn by Trendsetter

This multi-colored yarn was a staple in the Trendsetter line-up. This yarn stripes in a predictable way, making it great for plain stockinette, garter stitch, large mitered squares, and other techniques.

Tonalita is a soft wool blend of 52% wool and 48% acrylic. Knits up quickly to an Aran gauge of 4 st to the inch on US 9 needles. Hand wash cold, dry cleaning is recommended. A 50 gram ball is about 100 yards.

Sansibar, by Lang

What a gorgeous yarn, and so disappointing that it is now discontinued but of course that means a great bargain for you! Once again the masters at Lang have proven they are the best when it comes to blending fibers: Sansibar is a single ply wool blend, with an engaging shine from the viscose, and strength from the nylon. As usual, the Lang colors are striking and yet balanced, and so appealing. This yarn is well suited to using by itself, or combined with another yarn. Use it for any pattern asking for a sport weight wool.

Alpaca Degrade
by Lang

A light to wear, colorful yarn with an exceptionally long color repeat. Brushed Alpaca is a soft alternative to mohair, and there is just enough wool and nylon to minimize shedding. This is a fabulous opportunity to let the yarn do all the work: stitch patterning is not appropriate for this multi-color, fuzzy yarn. Unusual directional knitting such as entrelac, though, could be extremely effective. The beautiful Lang colors are so appealing, and will create a garment or afghan that will be a favorite.

  • 70% Alpaca, 15% New Wool, 15% Nylon
  • 25g is about 147 yards
  • Recommended needle size is US 6-8 (4-5 mm)
  • Gauge is about 18 stitches and 27 rows in 4" (10 cm)
  • Hand wash, lay flat to dry, or dry clean.
There are patterns for Alpaca Degrade in Fatto a Mano 199

Studio
Another innovation by Lang. A slightly variegated, premium hand knitting yarn, especially designed for felting. The nylon helps to stabilize the felted fiber, and the spandex adds just enough stretch to help with wet shaping. Don't felt? Not to worry: this yarn has a gorgeous boucle construction that's very pretty when knitted--just choose a smaller needle and check your gauge.
  • 87% Extra Fine Merino, 12% Nylon, 1% Spandex.
  • 50g ball is about 200m (219 yds).
  • For felting patterns, use a US 7-8 needle.
This is a tweedy version of Lang's popular chunky yarn, West. Light and airy, it combines a gradual color variation with tweedy flecks for a one-of-a-kind look.

Dune
trendsetter's classic multi-fiber, multi-texture yarn.

Dune has been a perennial favorite since first introduced. If you love color, this yarn is for you. Dune combines the soft haze of mohair with enough glitter and substance to successfully present even the most vibrant colors in variegated colorways.

Because of the mohair halo, Dune knits to 4 stitches per inch on US 9 needles to produce a solid stockinette fabric.

  • 41% Mohair, 30% Acrylic, 29% Nylon
  • Use size 9 needle, 5.5 mm
  • 50 g skeins About 80 yards per skein
  • 4 stitches = 1" Hand wash.

Apres Ski
by Knit One Crochet Too

Great for any worsted or Aran weight project, from accessories to sweaters to afghans and more! Apres Ski is a super soft and squishy wool/nylon blend yarn in a heavier worsted weight. This yarn has a smooth twist that is easy to knit or crochet, and creates wonderful stitch definition in its bold and bright variety of colors.

This is our first yarn from Knit One Crochet Too, a highly respected brand name and a company dedicated to first quality yarns. You may know this brand from Ty Dye Cotton, the best known and long standing favorite yarn.

Looking for a lofty yarn with a soft feel, lots of yardage and clear, bright, colors? From colorwork to cables, APRES SKI is the perfect choice.

  • 70% wool, 30% nylon
  • 100g skeins contain 197 yards (180m)
  • 17-18 st = 4" on US 7-8 needles (4.5-5 mm); Use a 5mm hook for crochet
  • Hand wash, lay flat to dry. The manufacturer claims no shrinkage in a washing machine, but there may be undesirable fulling. However, this yarn is not a classic felting yarn and we would not recommend it for felting.
  • A fabulous value: a 40" stockinette woman's sweater will take 6 skeins, about $45!! Can't beat it!

Regia 8-ply Marl Sock Yarn

This is the best of the best for boot socks! This is a classic sock yarn composition, 75% wool, 25% nylon that is machine washable and dryable, stable and hard-wearing. There are three beautiful marled colorways, all of them suitable for women or men, that give a classic look to your boot socks. But oh! The difference for your feet when hiking or working in boots is amazing!

Of course you can use this for other garments too, just like other sock yarn, but much faster to knit. The statistics below are what is printed on the ball band, but that is really based on standard 8-ply yarn. For tips for boot socks, see the features tab below.

75% superwash wool, 25% nylon
150g = about 328 yards (300m)
Machine wash medium or low, machine dry low--will not felt
Gauge for medium weight fabric is 20 st and 28 rows on US 6-8 needles (See the features tab for sock knitting.)
One ball will make a standard pair of ladies socks (up to size 9 shoe, with a 7" cuff above the ankle). Larger sizes including men's or longer cuff will require more than 1 ball.

Boot Socks:
For hard wearing boot socks, we would recommend using a US 3-5 needle, as small as you can manage it, for at least the toes and heels. It's ok to use several different needle sizes in a sock to make the fabric feel just the way you want! You may also want to string along extra fuzzy nylon in the toes and heels.
Don't be afraid to customize socks--the wearer will LOVE you for it.

These colors are beautifully clean and true, and right off the runway. Even the palest colors have impact, and every one will show off your stitchery.

  • 70% Baby Alpaca, 10% New Wool, 20% Nylon
  • 11 stitches and 16 rows to 4"
  • US 10½ - 11 needles (7 - 8 mm)
  • 50 gram ball is about 71 yards (65m)

Mille Colori Big
Superwash merino blend by Lang
Wow, what a tremendous buy! Originally $35 a ball, this yarn was marketed as a one ball project. Our Lang importer found a bunch of leftovers hiding in a corner of their warehouse, and all of you benefit!
This yarn was originally conceived as a one ball project, and it does make a gorgeous 5-6' scarf, or a hat or two.

But at this price, just think of the incredible projects you can make in no time with this fabulous bulky yarn:

This mille-colori has all the appeal of the beautiful Lang colors found in all the others: Mille Colori Baby, Mille Colori, Mille Colori 200g, etc. "Mille Colori" means 1000 colors in Italian, and you will be fascinated by the incredible color changes that Lang has designed into this yarn.

  • Machine wash gentle, dry flat, do not use fabric softener or dry clean ** these are the manufacturer's instructions. Laurel recommends hand wash for larger projects (just because of the size) to avoid stretching.

Mille Colori Socks & Lace Luxe
Superwash merino by Lang

Absolutely stunning, this is Lang's concept of what a fancy, spangled laceweight yarn should be. It is two ply, with a very long color repeat plus just a little glitz-- great for lace projects, socks, fine knits, and more. This yarn is a superwash sock yarn. The colors are completely appealing, and the yarn is so soft. Yet it has the nylon necessary for good sock wear.

Great for any sock project, or lace projects of every level of difficulty, as well as for simpler straight knits. Just one ball for a pair of socks, or a generous lacy scarf. But use it for more than that--this yarn would make a fabulous big shawl (3-4 balls) or a simple halter top layered under dressy winter clothing that would just knock 'em dead!

  • 73% Fine Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon, 2% Polyester Metallic
  • 28 stitches & 40 rows over 4" for a solid fabric
  • Needle size 1.5-3 for stockinette, but can be larger for lace, smaller for socks
  • 100 gram ball is about 440 yards (400m)
  • Machine wash gentle, dry flat, do not use fabric softener or dry clean
  • Women's average socks take 1 ball; Woman's plain medium (36") long sleeved pullover takes approximately 450 g (4.5 balls)
