Merino 130 Compact wool yarn from Lang Malou bulky yarn by Lang
Merino 130 Compact
A very, very different merino yarn! This is super-fine merino spun in an extra tight twist, with an anti-felting finish, and dyed in all those beautiful Lang colors. This is a sport weight yarn that displays unsurpassed stitch definition. And so soft next to the skin. Merino 130 Compact originally sold for $14.00 per ball.

We suspect that this yarn did not sell well in the US because of the smaller needle size required. But if you want an heirloom project, this yarn is perfect. We have limited quantities of certain colors, so order soon.

  • 100% merino wool
  • 50g ball = about 142 yd (130 m)
  • 23 st to 4" on US 4-5 needles
  • Machine or hand wash warm, lay flat to dry, or dry clean (although personally I would hand wash). Do not use fabric softener.
The style photos below are available in current Fatto a Mano magazines, or as single purchase. If you need help locating one or have questions, please email laurel@dyedandgone.com .
by Lang
Big bulky yarns are in fashion, but this one is really exceptional. It's so light and squeezable, almost like unspun fiber. Any sweater, jacket, coat or shrug, even those with lots of cables or textural patterning, will feel like it's floating--like being wrapped in a warm cloud.

These colors are beautifully clean and true, and right off the runway. Even the palest colors have impact, and every one will show off your stitchery.

  • 70% Baby Alpaca, 10% New Wool, 20% Nylon
  • 11 stitches and 16 rows to 4"
  • US 10½ - 11 needles (7 - 8 mm)
  • 50 gram ball is about 71 yards (65m)
  • Hand wash, dry flat, do not use fabric softener
  • Woman's medium (36") long sleeved pullover takes approximately 500 g (10 balls)
We have many patterns from Lang for Malou. The single patterns shown below include
990_027 Jacket
183_067 Bolero
We have added some pattern support from Lang Yarns--some individual patterns and some discontinued Lang magazines. Check these out:
